Comprehending Engineers

Couldn't help put put this up .. Read it ol ...

Comprehending Engineers - Take One: Two engineering students were walking
across campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?" The
second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday minding my own
business when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike. She threw the bike to
the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want." "The
second engineer nodded approvingly, "Good choice; the clothes probably
wouldn't have fit."

Comprehending Engineers - Take Two: To the optimist, the glass is half full.
To a pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice
as big as it needs to be.

Comprehending Engineers-Take Three: A pastor, a doctor and an engineer were
waiting one morning for a particularly slow group of golfers. The engineer
fumed, "What's with these guys? We must have been waiting for 15 minutes!"
The doctor chimed in, "I don't know, but I've never seen such ineptitude!
"The pastor said, "Hey, here comes the greens keeper. Let's have a word with
him." [dramatic pause] "Hi George. Say, what's with that group ahead of us?
They're rather slow, aren't they?" The greens keeper replied, "Oh, yes,
that's a group of blind firefighters. They lost their sight saving our
clubhouse from a fire last year, so we always let them play for free
anytime." The group was silent for a moment. The pastor said, "That's so
sad. I think I will say a special prayer for them tonight." The doctor said,
"Good idea. And I'm going to contact my ophthalmologist buddy and see if
there's anything he can do for them." The engineer said, "Why can't these
guys play at night?"

Comprehending Engineers-Take Four: There was an engineer who had an
exceptional gift for fixing all things mechanical. After serving his company
loyally for over 30 years, he happily retired. Several years later the
company contacted him regarding a seemingly impossible problem they were
having with one of their multimillion dollar machines. They had tried
everything and everyone else to get the machine to work but to no avail. In
desperation, they called on the retired engineer who had solved so many of
their problems in the past. The engineer reluctantly took the challenge. He
spent a day studying the huge machine. At the end of the day, he marked a
small "x" in chalk on a particular component of the machine and stated,
"This is where your problem is". The part was replaced and the machine
worked perfectly again. The company received a bill for $50,000 from the
engineer for his service. They demanded an itemized accounting of his
charges. The engineer responded briefly: One chalk mark, $1. Knowing where
to put it, $49,999. It was paid in full and the engineer retired again in
peace.

Comprehending Engineers-Take Five: What is the difference between
Mechanical Engineers and Civil Engineers?
Mechanical Engineers build weapons, Civil Engineers build targets.

Comprehending Engineers-Take Six: Three engineering students were gathered
together discussing the possible designers of the human body. One said, "It
was a mechanical engineer. Just look at all the joints." Another said, "No,
it was an electrical engineer. The nervous system has many thousands of
electrical connections." The last said, "Actually it was a civil engineer.
Who else would run a toxic waste pipeline through a recreational area?"

Comprehending Engineers-Take Seven: "Normal people ... believe that if it
ain't broke, don't fix it." Engineers believe that if it ain't broke, it
doesn't have enough features yet.

Comprehending Engineers-Take Eight: An architect, an artist and an engineer
were discussing whether it was better to spend time with the wife or a
mistress. The architect said he enjoyed time with his wife, building a solid
foundation for an enduring relationship. The artist said he enjoyed time
with his mistress, because of the passion and mystery he found there. The
engineer said, "I like both." "Both?" Engineer: "Yeah. If you have a wife
and a mistress, they will each assume you are spending time with the other
woman, and you can go to the lab and get some work done."

Comprehending Engineers - Take Nine: An engineer was crossing a road one day
when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a
beautiful princess". He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his
pocket. The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me and turn me back
into a beautiful princess, I will stay with you for one week." The engineer
took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket.
The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess,
I'll stay with you and do ANYTHING you want." Again the engineer took the
frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket. Finally, the frog
asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess, that
I'll stay with you for a week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss
me?" The engineer said, "Look I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a
girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's cool!"

One Down One to GO - District -9 Done ... Inglourious sooon

Two movies that i was really wanting to watch. District - 9 & Inglourious !!!

District - 9

D-9 is simply BRILLIANT !!!

Here's one movie that adds up to the brilliant marketing and hype created for a movie that has a first time director, his school buddy the first time lead though of course the brilliant Peter Jackson as the executive producer back this 30 million dollar project that has already earned 75 mill in less than 10 days !!!

Here’s the pitch: desperate extraterrestrials live on earth in segregated slums in South Africa where they are treated like illegal immigrants.

These aliens are being moved to another location they have advanced weapons that are only usable by them and not humans.

There is one human who due to circumstances starts to become an alien ..

How he ends up fighting for them against the world is the basic plot of the movie.

Theres everything in this movie from a brilliant script , great action sequences , really captivating direction a movie that makes you think and to top it all its so damn entertaining !!!

Cant believe there would be such a movie made with flying saucers in it !!!

Inglourious !!!

This movie has earned 37 mill on its first weekend !!! Has a great word of mouth !!! Heard of it getting a standing ovation in Cannes !!!
I so need to watch this movie !! for now all i can do is watch the trailers and the pics and wait !!!

I have been waiting for this movie to release from i dont know when !!!
A WW-II epic by Quentin Tarantino where its the Nazis being annihilated by a handfull of bad ass Allied Soldiers !!! Whose going to miss this ??

Patriotic Post - 1 "The Razangla battle"

Today's the 10th Anniversary of Kargil and the Government of India is not participating in the celebrations by the Army. Shocking as it may be .. I feel the Govt forgets the sacrifices made sometimes as they continue to bicker about whose fault the War was.
Here's something i just went through after i read it !!! Even though my dad had told me about this ever since i was a kid. Reading this was quite something !!! I have posted the actual link below after the text so that these facts aren't lost sme where.

The Razangla battle

ON October 20, 1962, the Chinese launched a full-scale attack on 7 Infantry Brigade, stretched as it was along the Namka Chu river in the Kaming division of North West Frontier Agency (NEFA), later renamed Arunachal Pradesh, and made rapid progress. However, in the Ladakh sector, nothing much happened during the next few weeks except that some of the forward Indian posts were driven back, though there were unmistakable signs of a build-up of forces.

114 Infantry Brigade had been tasked to defend the gateway to the Indus Valley at Chushul. The brigade had occupied defences on the heights dominating the Chushul plain and its airfield. It is a vast area and consequently the defences were widely separated with the companies occupying isolated positions, resulting in the break-up of the only artillery battery into troop deployment. One of the forward and important features called Razangla was occupied by a company of 13 Kumaon, commanded by Maj Shaitan Singh.

He must have been a very naughty child for his parents to have named him Shaitan Singh. In later years, he grew up to be a sombre, God-fearing, serious-minded officer, a bit shy and unassuming. He took keen interest in the training and welfare of his men. He came from a military family, with his father having risen to the rank of a Colonel in the army.

Consequently, by training and tradition, he was imbued with a high sense of duty and responsibility and his character moulded to measure up to the trials and tribulations that lay ahead.

Razangla is a rocky area in the desolate, barren and cold desert of Ladakh and an important post for the attacker to take before making any move towards the plains of Chushul. Its height is over 17,000 feet and dominates the surrounding area, thus making it a vital feature for the defender to hold.

Equally, there was no better man to defend this outpost than Major Shaitan Singh. Both his commanding officer and the brigade commander (also from the Kumaon Regiment) knew that the enemy will require some considerable effort to dislodge him from Razangla.

Finally on the night of December 18, 1962, the Chinese made their move around mid-night. The attack opened with a heavy barrage of artillery and mortar fire supported by medium machine guns. Shaitan Singh’s men were ill-clad for the freezing winter of Ladakh, their weapons were outdated and ammunition limited with no artillery support worth the name.

Frozen earth made digging very difficult and the defender had based his defences mostly on Sangars. Notwithstanding all that, these gallant men of Kumoan hills met the overwhelming enemy onslaught head-on.

Shaitan Singh must have been the most inspiring figure in that unequal fight; for his men fought to the last while he himself kept moving to wherever the situation was found getting out of control.

Shaitan Singh was seriously wounded in the legs and stomach, yet he declined to be evacuated by his men and decided to fight to the finish. All this time, the battle raged with unabated fury. Some of the section posts changed hands many times. With the ammunition exhausted the fighting took its most primitive and brutal form, that is hand-to-hand fighting with the Kumaonis refusing to yield ground.

Before dawn could break on the Ladakh hills, silence descended at Razangla. The last of the men of that gallant company had fallen at their post. When all had been lost, three badly wounded men who had survived the fighting decided to evacuate Shaitan Singh, who by now was totally incapacitated. They carried him some distance, but the task was too much for the already weakened men.

Realising their state and the problem they were having in evacuating him, Shaitan Singh ordered his men to leave him to his fate and find their way to the battalion headquarters. Reclining against the rock, Shaitan Singh must have slowly bled and frozen to death, and that is the position in which they found him next summer.

Out of this gallant company of nearly 120 men, only these three seriously wounded soldiers came back to give the details of this heroic battle.

The Chinese had suffered heavy casualties and the momentum of their offensive in the Ladakh sector had been effectively checked by these handful of Kumaonis under that gallant company commander. Thereafter, the Chinese made no serious effort to push their drive towards the Chushul plain.

While military observers were stunned at the collective bravery of these men and that of Shaitan Singh, Joe Das, an authority on military history, drew a parallel between the battle of Razangla and the battle of Thermopyalae.

Next summer, when Razangla was revisited, Major Shaitan Singh’s body was found where the three men said they had left him. At Razangla, the spread of dead bodies of the Kumaonis, with some still clutching their weapons and from the type and extent of their wounds one could picture the desperate nature of the struggle and the bravery of the men of 13 Kumaon.

Major Shaitan Singh was awarded the Param Vir Chakra (posthumous) for valour.

Michael Jackson : Tribute

This is a time when almost all channels are paying tribute to MJ. Almost a week later they come up with wierd stories ranging from how he had broken ribs, was bald used a wig was undernourished and also only had pills in his stomach when he died. A day later after a magazine releases pics and new channels play videos play snippets of his rehearsal dance every one comments on how healthy he was looking before he suddenly died.

This is how the media practically used MJ's name to sell news .. often made up to eager and trusting fans across the world. The still r telling us of how ppl claimed to have seen MJ's ghost at his Neverland Ranch !!!

He was the biggest star and i must say with the most brilliant voice full of range too.His music had soul, lyrics that appealed to all; his beats and OMFG wat a dancer/performer !!!
I havn't grown tired of listening to his music and never will.

There are various phases in our lives one where we r addicted to pop, then boybands - britney-beyonce etc phase, then when we feel a little cooler we listen to rock, hip hop,rap eminem is da coolest rapper and he kicks ppls asses and ofcourse then there's the phse when we listen to mature rock, metal some of us enjoy club and house music !!!
Through all of these phases i could listen to any of his hits at any given time of the day and thoroughly enjoy it !!!

His music transcended all genres and had a bit of everything in it. Each of his songs has more production value than that in an album of any recent singer ... Listen to Billy Jean for instance or Bad or Give in to Me or any of his hits and just compare it to sme of the music here .. Flo Rida - Right round for example .. which is a gr8 track btw ... its not even a patch on any of his songs

He collaborated/performed with some of the biggest names in the industry today right from Slash to Britney. He gave to charity. Was gud to fans. Ppl got after him in the series of incidents he got into like havin a Chimp as a pet .. OOh its so sweet wen Paris Hilton gets a Chi hua hua as a pet and carries it around in her hand bag isnt it !

He did hav cases filed against him for serious charges but nothing was proved though there was an outta court settlement the first time !
Now who wouldnt get after a person with as much Money as him using one of his eccentricities and a wonderful way of killing the very base of his popularity : his acceptability amongst most of the public irrespective of race, or sex !!!
Now when Elvis died weren't the like 300+ ppl claiming to be his illegitimate children to cash in !!! Bust Elvis is still the King isn't he ?

Forget that shit. His music was gr8 ... 2days music isnt very gr8 and the artists keep getting caught with dope every now and then and its ok .. isn't ?

Its not like i listened to his music a lot over the past few yrs but i know one thing i never got bored or changed the channel when one of his performances or songs were being played !!!

And this is who he was going out with when she was the world's most desirable woman
